[It's been almost a week and Ed's starting to feel the lack of sleep. He's taken to carrying his dragon in the crook of his arm; the cat sized creature has been learning how to climb the past couple of days and so far if he hasn't had his eye on her she'd inevitably lose her grip and fall. That on top of her being constantly hungry, and dreaming about his world disintegrating...
It's pretty clear he's reaching the end of his rope.
Ed yawns as he leaves the small cavern he'd claimed as a room to head to the market for the day, Aegis trying to wiggle out from his hold to climb his jacket. He needs to start exploring the city soon, as well as find someone selling notebooks, or paper at the very least. He'd done very little since he woke up beyond obtaining food and new clothes.]
[ chiaki is also on the way to the market. she tries to find little jobs to do here and there every day, or to learn more from the natives (the npcs...) as she waits for the plot to start. whatever she thinks that means. unlike many of the other scions, her dragon's egg is taking longer to hatch. she's uncomfortable simply leaving it in her room, however, so she's fashioned a sling for it, and carries it with her.
when she leaves her own home she yawns as well, wiping at the corner of her eyes before she realizes someone else is walking through the caverns. ]
[Ed startles a bit at the voice, not having expected someone else to be here. The caverns were largely empty, and since he woke up and met his dragon he'd only seen one other...scion? That was the word they used.
This new girl must be like him, too, he supposes. He misses the dragon egg at first, blinking blearily at Chiaki to get his brain back into first gear.]
...morning.
[Social interaction: Success?
Aegis makes a sound from her perch and Ed rubs at his eyes to stave off his exhaustion.]
[ they are so good at this. chiaki has to yawn again, because she's never the most awake even at the best of times...
at least she won't judge ed for being exhausted? ]
Mm...yeah. I wanted to pick some caverns that were biggish just in case...my friends showed up. Or in case my partner is really big someday...what about you?
He perks up at the word 'partner' and finally notices the egg; drawing the energy for his interest from some nameless void he saves just for alchemy. She must have woken up here recently, too.
It immediately eases something in him to have proof that he wasn't alone. He'd met Rey already, but she'd been here for half a year already. It didn't feel quite the same.]
I'm not sure about the place yet, to be honest. The people seem nice, but...
[This may not be the first time he's gone to new towns where no one knew who he was, but it's the first time he's ever been alone doing it.]
I've got one of the more personal ones. [He gestures back where he came from.]
They do seem really helpful. But...it's not home, right?
[ to finish the sentence. and worse than not home, it's a new place with the assurance that their homes are no more. it...wasn't what chiaki had expected to wake up to, though specifically she had never actually expected to wake up ever again. ]
[She hit the nail right on the head, and for a moment Ed's uncomfortable. He hasn't been dealing with it very well. Feels lost, like the ground has been pulled right out from under his feet. If he hadn't been taking care of Aegis, he's not entirely sure he'd have been able to function this week.
The change of subject is welcome and he attempts a smile.]
Yeah, for food, and I was thinking about finding someone selling ink and paper. [A pause.] Did you want to go with? Haven't really had anyone to talk to. [He winces slightly at how awkward that sounds.]
I'd like that. I haven't really talked to many other Scions...just one or two.
[ she doesn't like to intrude, and everyone is still learning to deal. so she just speaks to the ones who speak to her or seem open to it, for the time being. chiaki is first and foremost interested in setting people at ease, usually, so the smile ed attempts is returned more gently and genuinely. ]
I'm Chiaki Nanami. And actually...I'd like to buy some ink and paper, too. It'd probably be good to write down the things I learn here...just in case.
Hope this is okay as a starter~
