first game; VIDEO. action for new bark i guess but who is even in new bark right now?
[ It takes her no time at all to figure out how to work the gear. Nanami is good with electronics, especially the handheld sort that hold games on them (and she did look at the games that came preloaded first off, and then wasted some of her starter cash on one or two of the others...) so it was easy.
...Except that after she finished playing around with that, Nanami spent several days trying to play the game. As in "Pokémon". She eventually gives this up, but it admittedly takes a while. After turning on the video function, she pauses. Takes a moment to collect her thoughts. This is accomplished by staring off into space before refocusing. ]
...Hello. My name is Nanami Chiaki. I’m a Super High-school Level Gamer. ...I'm pretty good with all genres.
[ That's the unimportant stuff. Moving on to the stuff that actually matters: ]
...Although this is certainly "Pokémon", it's a sequel or something, right? New locations, new creatures...even so, there are so many differences compared to that game, aren't there? Almost too many...
[ She puffs out her cheeks, a silent pout, before continuing past her pause. ]
...I started out with a partner already, without having to visit the Professor. There was no point where I was supposed to choose my partner...or my gender, or name, although I don't mind that. ...While I like Munna, that's a little weird, isn't it? And even if the plot is different in this game, which is normal...
I haven't been able to trigger any quests so far, you know? Or tutorials. ...Maybe that ferry to Kanto would be the right choice, but couldn't that be a case of skipping ahead to the boss area without being properly leveled? That I haven't even had a rival encounter, isn't that worrying?
[ Nanami falls silent for a second before her main concern comes out, said more quietly than the rest, though she hadn't been speaking loudly to start with. ]
...It's not working properly.
[ That's...that's apparently all she wanted to bring up...? Trapped in the world of Pokémon, her main concern is apparently that the game is wrong. Where are the quests she knows she ought to be having, or the characters she ought to be meeting? Perhaps it's best to leave her to it...Ah, no, wait. It appears she has a bit more to say. ]
...If there's a new sequence to trigger the main quest, I'd like to know that, please. I'll keep trying to find it in the meantime. ...Ah, it's hard to trigger secret codes if you're in the game itself, isn't it...? At least, the normal codes are a no-go. I'll have to think of something else.
[ ...never mind, this is absolutely the time to leave her to her thoughts. Nanami ends the video after another pause, undoubtedly going off to try to "start" her game once again. ]

I am a person who cannot ever disobey the Future Foundation. ...If that's not true here, I suppose it becomes "I am a person who believes in those who protect hope".

Nanami-san...are you...
[This is so weird, how is she even supposed to phrase...]
How are you related to Alter Ego?
PRIVATE
He's my big brother.
PRIVATE
No wonder you want to meet Fujisaki-kun.
I don't know who we told you to protect, but thank you for giving it your all. Your brother did the same for Naegi-kun and I...
[...]
That's a debt I owe, and can't repay.
PRIVATE
[ Although Kirigiri already knows that. How could she have? ]
I think...my brother would say you don't owe him anything. Protecting our friends is...something we both wanted to do. Even if that was also what we were told to do, it would have been the same even if it were a choice, right...?
PRIVATE
[And she remembers, even now, the way that Naegi had screamed as he'd fallen down the shaft; how she'd climbed into the garbage to go after him; how she couldn't have done anything less, because...]
Because of that, it seems I ought to protect you, also.
PRIVATE
...You want to be friends?
PRIVATE
Without Fujisaki-kun and Alter Ego-san...
[And then it sort of hits her, really hits her, how much of everything they did and managed rode on people who are dead, who died for them, who managed to give those still living a chance. Fujisaki-kun. Alter Ego. Oogami-san.
...Her father.]
It's not an order, Nanami-san. Just a request.
PRIVATE
[ And, well, she could use someone looking out for her, too, although she doesn't think of that part. ]
If there's a two player game, we can do co-op.
PRIVATE
actually who even the fuck knows if Kirigiri remembers Yui at this point but if she did THAT IS WHAT SHE WOULD BE WONDERING.]
Is there a PC in any of the buildings around you? The first Pokemon Center isn't until Cherrygrove, three days to the east, but I never thought to check for PC access when I was in New Bark.
PRIVATE
[ Which she didn't find because there isn't one. ]
PRIVATE
PRIVATE
[ That solves the problem of "what do I do when I spent all my money on games", anyway. ]
After that, it's Cherrygrove to Violet, right? I heard the first gym is a flying-type.
PRIVATE
Your starter was a Munna, you said?
PRIVATE
I think they look similar.
[ Kirigiri probably isn't interested in that, Nanami. ]
PRIVATE
PRIVATE
[ She has to memorize this new Pokedex.
Give her a few days. ]
PRIVATE
PRIVATE 1/2
That's...
PRIVATE 2/2
[ That's not a weird thing to say at all, Nanami. ]
You're...definitely my destined rival!
PRIVATE
WHAT THE SHIT JUST HAPPENED THERE]
What?
PRIVATE
[ For once, no pauses when speaking. ...Okay then. ]
And that person, they should definitely have a type super-effective against the player character's monster. Kirby is a psychic-type, so that means that your starter...it's exactly the right type!
PRIVATE
Wait a minute, dangerously genre savvy people are EXCELLENT to have around in places like this.
...]
That's right. I suppose I must be, then.
PRIVATE
Since that's the case, we absolutely have to battle as soon as we can! And also, the badges...I will definitely get them all before you!!
[ This is now her goal. A game needs to have a goal. ]
And as we battle, we'll get a lot stronger. That's how it goes.
PRIVATE
You'll have to work hard if your goal is to defeat me.
