first game; VIDEO. action for new bark i guess but who is even in new bark right now?

[ It takes her no time at all to figure out how to work the gear. Nanami is good with electronics, especially the handheld sort that hold games on them (and she did look at the games that came preloaded first off, and then wasted some of her starter cash on one or two of the others...) so it was easy.

...Except that after she finished playing around with that, Nanami spent several days trying to play the game. As in "Pokémon". She eventually gives this up, but it admittedly takes a while. After turning on the video function, she pauses. Takes a moment to collect her thoughts. This is accomplished by staring off into space before refocusing. ]

...Hello. My name is Nanami Chiaki. I’m a Super High-school Level Gamer. ...I'm pretty good with all genres.

[ That's the unimportant stuff. Moving on to the stuff that actually matters: ]

...Although this is certainly "Pokémon", it's a sequel or something, right? New locations, new creatures...even so, there are so many differences compared to that game, aren't there? Almost too many...

[ She puffs out her cheeks, a silent pout, before continuing past her pause. ]

...I started out with a partner already, without having to visit the Professor. There was no point where I was supposed to choose my partner...or my gender, or name, although I don't mind that. ...While I like Munna, that's a little weird, isn't it? And even if the plot is different in this game, which is normal...

I haven't been able to trigger any quests so far, you know? Or tutorials. ...Maybe that ferry to Kanto would be the right choice, but couldn't that be a case of skipping ahead to the boss area without being properly leveled? That I haven't even had a rival encounter, isn't that worrying?

[ Nanami falls silent for a second before her main concern comes out, said more quietly than the rest, though she hadn't been speaking loudly to start with. ]

...It's not working properly.

[ That's...that's apparently all she wanted to bring up...? Trapped in the world of Pokémon, her main concern is apparently that the game is wrong. Where are the quests she knows she ought to be having, or the characters she ought to be meeting? Perhaps it's best to leave her to it...Ah, no, wait. It appears she has a bit more to say. ]

...If there's a new sequence to trigger the main quest, I'd like to know that, please. I'll keep trying to find it in the meantime. ...Ah, it's hard to trigger secret codes if you're in the game itself, isn't it...? At least, the normal codes are a no-go. I'll have to think of something else.

[ ...never mind, this is absolutely the time to leave her to her thoughts. Nanami ends the video after another pause, undoubtedly going off to try to "start" her game once again. ]

...You know Fujisaki-san? [ There's a split second pause between the name and the honorific, because he wants to respect Fujisaki's secret and he doesn't know if Nanami knows it. ]

Um, we didn't really get the chance to hang out much [ because chapter two happened ] but I can tell you about some of the things we talked about.

Um, we talked about computers one time. I don't know much about programming or how it works, but Fujisaki-san was really happy to talk about it.

[ It's not unusual for a programmer to enjoy talking about programming, he supposes, but he hadn't quite expected Fujisaki to become so lively once that particular topic came up. ]

She... [ It's a bit odd to say 'she', but... ]

She played with the computer at her house a lot and one day she found one of her father's half-finished programs. She made some changes to it and that's when realized she could write programs on her own.

...AIs. During our "school life of mutual killing", Fujisaki-san wrote an AI from scratch in just a few days. Without that AI, I wouldn't have survived.

[ Case files about the first killing game, huh... ] Sounds like you know a lot about what happened inside the school.

[ Thank you for using that pronoun, Nanami. He gives her a nod in response, and when she zones out he looks mildly alarmed for a second until she starts talking again. ]

I see...

[ Hmm. He's wondering what the point of those files being on the island is, but it's probably something Monobear deliberately put there. Ugh, this is just making him more and more confused. ]

Um... I'm not holding you up with this, am I? There are a lot of things I still want to ask you about but I think it's probably for the best if I wait until you've gotten used to this place.

[ Because she's still new and she like three days of walking ahead of her if she decides to head toward Cherrygrove and he doesn't want to be an asshole who hogs her time when she has a whole new world to adjust to. ]

[ She says she'll answer whatever he asks, and he decides not to ask any more questions about murder island for now. He needs some time to gather his thoughts and ask Kirigiri for deets before he contacts Nanami for more questions. ]

Is there anything you need? What you get from "Mom" isn't exactly a lot, so I can send you some extra food or money...

You... spent your money on games... [ Um. Nice priorities you've got there, Nanami. ]

Um, yeah, I have. I'm pretty bad at timing the jumps and dashes once the game starts getting fast but it's hard to put it down once I start playing.

[ ...Nanami pls. ]

Um, I like the Mario games. I played Mario 64 a lot when I was little. But if we're talking games for the PokéGear, Angry Spearow and Tetris are my favourites.

[ ...? That expression tells him something's wrong and he wonders why, but it's probably not a good idea to press her about it because what if he makes it worse. ]

Mm. It's like that game, but with Pokémon instead of regular birds.
