first game; VIDEO. action for new bark i guess but who is even in new bark right now?
[ It takes her no time at all to figure out how to work the gear. Nanami is good with electronics, especially the handheld sort that hold games on them (and she did look at the games that came preloaded first off, and then wasted some of her starter cash on one or two of the others...) so it was easy.
...Except that after she finished playing around with that, Nanami spent several days trying to play the game. As in "Pokémon". She eventually gives this up, but it admittedly takes a while. After turning on the video function, she pauses. Takes a moment to collect her thoughts. This is accomplished by staring off into space before refocusing. ]
...Hello. My name is Nanami Chiaki. I’m a Super High-school Level Gamer. ...I'm pretty good with all genres.
[ That's the unimportant stuff. Moving on to the stuff that actually matters: ]
...Although this is certainly "Pokémon", it's a sequel or something, right? New locations, new creatures...even so, there are so many differences compared to that game, aren't there? Almost too many...
[ She puffs out her cheeks, a silent pout, before continuing past her pause. ]
...I started out with a partner already, without having to visit the Professor. There was no point where I was supposed to choose my partner...or my gender, or name, although I don't mind that. ...While I like Munna, that's a little weird, isn't it? And even if the plot is different in this game, which is normal...
I haven't been able to trigger any quests so far, you know? Or tutorials. ...Maybe that ferry to Kanto would be the right choice, but couldn't that be a case of skipping ahead to the boss area without being properly leveled? That I haven't even had a rival encounter, isn't that worrying?
[ Nanami falls silent for a second before her main concern comes out, said more quietly than the rest, though she hadn't been speaking loudly to start with. ]
...It's not working properly.
[ That's...that's apparently all she wanted to bring up...? Trapped in the world of Pokémon, her main concern is apparently that the game is wrong. Where are the quests she knows she ought to be having, or the characters she ought to be meeting? Perhaps it's best to leave her to it...Ah, no, wait. It appears she has a bit more to say. ]
...If there's a new sequence to trigger the main quest, I'd like to know that, please. I'll keep trying to find it in the meantime. ...Ah, it's hard to trigger secret codes if you're in the game itself, isn't it...? At least, the normal codes are a no-go. I'll have to think of something else.
[ ...never mind, this is absolutely the time to leave her to her thoughts. Nanami ends the video after another pause, undoubtedly going off to try to "start" her game once again. ]

...
...Now she's curious which path they're both from. :|a ]
...I'm not on my own.
[Blake thought he was an expert on the routine by now.]
[video] 1/3
[video] 2/3
[video] 3/3
...It's...tiring talking for this long.
...Kirby's here, but I meant...I'm going to meet people.
[Blake mutters under his breath] A narcoleptic weirdo, that's just what we need.
[Oh she's awake now.] Yeah you are, and a bunch of them are lunatics, so look out.
Kirby? Is that your dad?
...No, Kirby is my partner. But I meant...I'm going to meet up with someone. So, that means I'm not alone, right?
Ah, and everyone I've met so far has been very nice and helpful.
[ ...Well, not sure about you, but he did try to warn her about stuff, so maybe? ]
Do you have some medication you're supposed to be taking?
Good. It'd better be somebody responsible.
You should have an adult keeping an eye on you if you're gonna drop off like that out of nowhere. And don't operate any heavy machinery. ...or firehorses.
[ Nanami's plans for the next week: ride a firehorse an 11-year-old kid lent her to meet said kid in Violet.
...That is like the opposite of all that advice right there, wow. ]
...Shaun-kun is pretty responsible, I think.
[All these damn kids running around with no common sense. He oughtta make his own guide. "1. Eat food. 2. Sleep."]
[Distracted by that thought, he almost misses the name.] Who's Shawkoo?
[ Well, she doesn't... ]
Shawn-kun. [ .................
And then, without the suffix: ]
Shaun.
[Oh. Understanding dawns on Blake's face.]
Shaun Mars?
Jesus Christ, that kid's already had one guardian who kept dropping into fugue states. Get a babysitter for the both of you!
...And I wouldn't...let anything happen to him.
You'd better damn well not. You got no idea what that kid's been through.
[And now that asshole's left him on his own.]
...You should work on talking to people. Isn't that rather rude?
What's your name, anyway? I'm Carter Blake. [after a second:] Lieutenant.
[ Blake... ]
...Nanami Chiaki.
[ Someone wasn't paying attention, but she shouldn't be surprised. ]
Right, right. That. Nannameechee-akky is way too damn long to be a name.
That's close enough......... ]
I should probably get going soon, to meet up with Shaun-kun in time...
I won't. Promise.
