first game; VIDEO. action for new bark i guess but who is even in new bark right now?
[ It takes her no time at all to figure out how to work the gear. Nanami is good with electronics, especially the handheld sort that hold games on them (and she did look at the games that came preloaded first off, and then wasted some of her starter cash on one or two of the others...) so it was easy.
...Except that after she finished playing around with that, Nanami spent several days trying to play the game. As in "Pokémon". She eventually gives this up, but it admittedly takes a while. After turning on the video function, she pauses. Takes a moment to collect her thoughts. This is accomplished by staring off into space before refocusing. ]
...Hello. My name is Nanami Chiaki. I’m a Super High-school Level Gamer. ...I'm pretty good with all genres.
[ That's the unimportant stuff. Moving on to the stuff that actually matters: ]
...Although this is certainly "Pokémon", it's a sequel or something, right? New locations, new creatures...even so, there are so many differences compared to that game, aren't there? Almost too many...
[ She puffs out her cheeks, a silent pout, before continuing past her pause. ]
...I started out with a partner already, without having to visit the Professor. There was no point where I was supposed to choose my partner...or my gender, or name, although I don't mind that. ...While I like Munna, that's a little weird, isn't it? And even if the plot is different in this game, which is normal...
I haven't been able to trigger any quests so far, you know? Or tutorials. ...Maybe that ferry to Kanto would be the right choice, but couldn't that be a case of skipping ahead to the boss area without being properly leveled? That I haven't even had a rival encounter, isn't that worrying?
[ Nanami falls silent for a second before her main concern comes out, said more quietly than the rest, though she hadn't been speaking loudly to start with. ]
...It's not working properly.
[ That's...that's apparently all she wanted to bring up...? Trapped in the world of Pokémon, her main concern is apparently that the game is wrong. Where are the quests she knows she ought to be having, or the characters she ought to be meeting? Perhaps it's best to leave her to it...Ah, no, wait. It appears she has a bit more to say. ]
...If there's a new sequence to trigger the main quest, I'd like to know that, please. I'll keep trying to find it in the meantime. ...Ah, it's hard to trigger secret codes if you're in the game itself, isn't it...? At least, the normal codes are a no-go. I'll have to think of something else.
[ ...never mind, this is absolutely the time to leave her to her thoughts. Nanami ends the video after another pause, undoubtedly going off to try to "start" her game once again. ]

[...Wait a moment.]
Hang on, you know who the boss of Team Rocket is?
[ At least, in the generation one games she knows about, that's definitely A Thing, right? ]
Yeah, I guess it would be; he was in charge in the game, right? Though things are different here, so who knows? It could've changed.
...So, it might be different.
...Is there a Professor Oak around?
[He knows that there's a professor of some sort, but he hasn't met him.]
[ Maybe if she just systematically goes through NPCs, here. ]
[...Actually, hang on, some of those sound familiar!]
I think some of 'em might be Gym Leaders in Kanto! I'm not really sure since I haven't been over there yet, but the names sound familiar at least!
In that case, maybe Giovanni also is.
[...Does Team Rocket even have a Kanto branch? Maybe he should actually start paying attention to this organization he's trying to take down. :|a ]
...I'd have to have more encounters before I could say for sure.
[Because that would be awful. Nanami seems really nice!]
...Also, I don't really have much of anything.
[ so. ]
[...speaking of that...]
What did you start with?
Ah, but I should introduce you?
[ Let her just pan to a gorgeous shot of - wow, okay, her starter is sleeping in midair next to her.
...Gorgeously? ]
This is Kirby.
[Mondo, Mondo no...]
It latches onto his head and won't let go. It's kinda cute. Does yours do that?
[ Maybe it will become a headcrab later? She wouldn't mind that. ]
And I normally just hold him. I think it's easier. Well...when he's not floating.
[Unlike Mondo's abomination of a starter Pokémon, but he suspects that has something to do with Team Rocket.]
[ It's the logical next question, here. ]
[Mondo glances somewhere off-screen for a moment and loudly shouts for someone. After a moment he turns the 'Gear to focus on a... pants-lizard.]
This is Ryder! She's a Scrafty!
[Ryder doesn't look very pleased, but then again, she never looks very pleased.]
[ Nanami, for her part, peers at the screen closely. This is definitely another new pokemon, since she hasn't memorized the pokedex yet.
...She might have it down by the next time they talk. ]
Ryder...that's a good name. It's nice to make your acquaintance, Ryder. ...You must be really strong.
[What's not so great is the fact that she's weak against Fighting-types. Most of his Pokémon are. Probably because he raises mostly Dark-types.]
She's kinda a pain in the ass, but yeah, she's definitely strong! She's level 100!
[Ryder smirks at that, looking very pleased with Nanami's words.]
[ She'll be worthy of that someday!
...Priorities. ]
That's really very high...that's the maximum, right? I'm impressed. You must have both been working very hard.
But yeah, we've been working pretty hard. I mean, there really isn't much else to do here 'sides working and I fucking hate retail.
[ But those glitches probably don't exist here. ]
...A job? I guess I should get one. I've never had one before...ah, unless you mean changing to a red mage, I've done that...
[ Final Fantasy...? ]
I hadn't had one before I showed up here either. It's alright, work's pretty easy. You can work at the Pokémart or the Pokémon Center, and I think there are a few other places, like the Game Corner. It's pretty fucking boring, but at least you'll get some money for it.
