first game; VIDEO. action for new bark i guess but who is even in new bark right now?
[ It takes her no time at all to figure out how to work the gear. Nanami is good with electronics, especially the handheld sort that hold games on them (and she did look at the games that came preloaded first off, and then wasted some of her starter cash on one or two of the others...) so it was easy.
...Except that after she finished playing around with that, Nanami spent several days trying to play the game. As in "Pokémon". She eventually gives this up, but it admittedly takes a while. After turning on the video function, she pauses. Takes a moment to collect her thoughts. This is accomplished by staring off into space before refocusing. ]
...Hello. My name is Nanami Chiaki. I’m a Super High-school Level Gamer. ...I'm pretty good with all genres.
[ That's the unimportant stuff. Moving on to the stuff that actually matters: ]
...Although this is certainly "Pokémon", it's a sequel or something, right? New locations, new creatures...even so, there are so many differences compared to that game, aren't there? Almost too many...
[ She puffs out her cheeks, a silent pout, before continuing past her pause. ]
...I started out with a partner already, without having to visit the Professor. There was no point where I was supposed to choose my partner...or my gender, or name, although I don't mind that. ...While I like Munna, that's a little weird, isn't it? And even if the plot is different in this game, which is normal...
I haven't been able to trigger any quests so far, you know? Or tutorials. ...Maybe that ferry to Kanto would be the right choice, but couldn't that be a case of skipping ahead to the boss area without being properly leveled? That I haven't even had a rival encounter, isn't that worrying?
[ Nanami falls silent for a second before her main concern comes out, said more quietly than the rest, though she hadn't been speaking loudly to start with. ]
...It's not working properly.
[ That's...that's apparently all she wanted to bring up...? Trapped in the world of Pokémon, her main concern is apparently that the game is wrong. Where are the quests she knows she ought to be having, or the characters she ought to be meeting? Perhaps it's best to leave her to it...Ah, no, wait. It appears she has a bit more to say. ]
...If there's a new sequence to trigger the main quest, I'd like to know that, please. I'll keep trying to find it in the meantime. ...Ah, it's hard to trigger secret codes if you're in the game itself, isn't it...? At least, the normal codes are a no-go. I'll have to think of something else.
[ ...never mind, this is absolutely the time to leave her to her thoughts. Nanami ends the video after another pause, undoubtedly going off to try to "start" her game once again. ]

[ Compared to the games, she means. ]
But I'll do my best. Shaun-kun is meeting me there, so I guess we can just train in that area for a little...?
[Well, he didn't, but that's because his luck sucks and he ended up in Team Rocket. But that's not the point!]
Oh, you mean Shaun, the kid? [Are there any other Shauns here?] He's great! I'm sure he'll be able to help you out!
[ It's her title, after all. ]
...Shaun Mars? That's who I mean. He's...lending me a pokemon to ride, to meet up there faster.
[ They will probably live off of peanut butter sandwiches. ]
...He's a really nice person. Besides that, Kirigiri-senpai sent me supplies. And Naegi-senpai offered the same thing. ...Everyone's pretty nice here, aren't they?
[Oh no, he should have thought about that! Ishimaru would be so disappointed in him for not offering to help.]
Say, have you heard of the breeding center? They give away a free Pokémon egg to people who just showed up here, you should check 'em out! Maybe you can get a type you need against Falkner!
[ She has to memorize the more up to date type charts in addition to the pokedex. ]
...Honestly, I've never traveled before, really. Since it's part of the game, though, it should be okay, right?
[ That's sort of cute. That kid could use more things like that, right? ]
[Like family issues!!]
...That's interesting. ]
He's played Pokemon, too. So, I suppose the same is true of us? ...Although, it's probably on a different level.
I'm sure you'll find more in common with him than that! Even if you don't, I'm sure you'll get along great!
...You're right. Talking to people...even if it's a little hard sometimes, that's how you learn about them, right? And how you become better friends...
...That's something I understand now.
[It's something he gets better here than he ever did back home too, so he's not going to give her a hard time on that.]
[ She supposes she might not have control over forgetting things, someday. :|a ]
[Mondo hesitates for a moment before adding onto that.]
I've learned a lot of shit like that here. I dunno what it is about this place. Maybe it's just better than shit was back home or something, I dunno.
[He shrugs. It's all kind of confusing.]
...This place is a very good place. I've only been here a little while, but...
...the spirit of the games, it's very much intact. And those games...were very nice places to go. While there were things like Team Rocket and the like, even those "bad things" weren't that bad. They were...always the sort of things that friendship and trust could overcome.
[ ...That was a lot of talking all at once, so she lapses into silence again, yawning. ]
Well, Team Rocket's here too. I guess they stole shit in the games, right? They do a lot of that here. I still think friendship and trust'll beat Team Rocket into the fucking ground, but you should probably look out, just in case.
[ Never mind he's told her he's never played the games, let's vaguely reference plot points anyway. ]
[...Wait a moment.]
Hang on, you know who the boss of Team Rocket is?
[ At least, in the generation one games she knows about, that's definitely A Thing, right? ]
Yeah, I guess it would be; he was in charge in the game, right? Though things are different here, so who knows? It could've changed.
...So, it might be different.
...Is there a Professor Oak around?
[He knows that there's a professor of some sort, but he hasn't met him.]
[ Maybe if she just systematically goes through NPCs, here. ]
[...Actually, hang on, some of those sound familiar!]
I think some of 'em might be Gym Leaders in Kanto! I'm not really sure since I haven't been over there yet, but the names sound familiar at least!
In that case, maybe Giovanni also is.
